Loughborough, with its unique atmosphere and wealth of historic buildings, is the principal town of the Borough of Charnwood, which is one of the largest Boroughs within Leicestershire.
The tradition of markets in Loughborough dates back to the early 13th century and the traditional open air markets of Thursday and Saturday still bring a bustle to the Market Square.
The Rushes shopping centre has lots of high street names but there are also countless smaller shops and boutiques in the Borough's villages and small towns. Loughborough and the villages also have an excellent number of restaurants of all kinds.
Arts and Entertainment are well represented at the Charnwood Theatre in the Town Hall, which presents a full programme of amateur and professional performances.
On the fringe of the Charnwood area is the Castle Donnington Race Circuit, venue of major international sporting events.
Optima is located in the centre of town, opposite a large Sainsbury’s supermarket and within easy reach of the market square and all the pubs and clubs that thrive off the 15,000 students that live here.
The University Bus runs very close to our door and operates a frequent service throughout the week.

From Junction 23 of the M1, follow the A512 (New Ashby Rd) into Loughborough. After 4.5km you’ll reach a large Sainsbury’s supermarket after which you should turn left into Greenclose Lane. We are on the right. A large public car park can be found to the rear of the site on Derby Square.
The KinchBus runs services between Derby, Loughborough and Leicester. Other national services run to the train station from where you follow the instructions for ‘by train’.
Loughborough Station is in the north east of the town. The KinchBus University Shuttle service runs from the station, directly past Optima (Ashby Square stop) and on to the university.
