Explore every part of Sheffield and you'll find industrial heritage or great cultural attractions, live entertainment, sport, and lots of shops and places to eat. You will also find out why Sheffield prides itself on its parks and gardens, and beautiful countryside that you'll find just a few minutes away from the city centre. The City also has an abundance of museums, galleries and leisure activities.
The Meadowhall Centre is Europe’s top shopping mall. Here you will find many leading department stores, exclusive shops, cafes of English and international cuisines, and entertainment including an 11 screen cinema complex and The Oasis where live music and shows can be found for free.
Sheffield is also home to the Crystal Peaks shopping centre and The Forum which is situated a couple of minutes from the City Hall. Here you will find 30 individual-style shops, a cafe bar, a comedy club on alternate Sundays and monthly art exhibitions from local artists in The Forum Gallery.
Winter Sports fans are also in luck as Sheffield has a fabulous ice rink (IceSheffield) and the Ski Village, with one-third of a mile of artificial alpine slopes and the only half-pipe in the UK is one of Europe's largest artificial ski facilities.
A huge variety of nightlife can be found in the city much of which is tailored to the student crowd given the large student population in Sheffield.
The City is also home to the Don Valley Stadium, the venue for regular international athletics events; The Crucible Theatre, home of the World Snooker Championships; and two prestigious football clubs from which to choose your new local team during your studies – Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield United (tickets for students from £5!)
